Compton Elementary School is located in Powder
Springs in southwest Cobb County.

Driving time is approximately 40 minutes from the
United clubhouse. There are three popular ways to get there:
Through downtown Marietta:
- Take Powder Springs Road west from the Marietta Square.
- Continue on Powder Springs for approximately 4-5 miles
until you reach a large 3-way intersection with Macland Road. You'll pass
County Services Road, Cheatham Hill Road and Kolb Farm before you reach the
Macland intersection. There are numerous retail businesses near this
intersection.
- Turn right onto Macland Road. (This is more of a fork
to the right than a full right turn.)
- Continue on Macland for approximately 4 miles until
you reach the intersection with New Macland Road / Hwy 176.
- Turn left onto New Macland Road.
- Continue on New Macland for 2-¼
miles. You'll pass McEachern High School on the right, then you'll pass an
intersection with a CVS and Eckerd on the left. Compton Elementary School will be on the
right just past that intersection. Take the 2nd entrance into Compton. The fields are
past the back parking lot down the hill on the left.
Via I-75:
- Take I-75 South to exit #261 (old exit #111):
Delk Road/Highway 280.
- Go right (west) onto Delk Road.
- Continue on Delk Road for several miles. The
road name changes to South Cobb Drive. You'll pass Lockheed. You'll pass
Atlanta Road. When you see a McDonald's on your left, you're getting near
your turn. You'll start to climb a large hill. There's a Pike's Nursery on
the right.
- Turn right onto Austell Road. This is a large
intersection.
- Continue on Austell for several miles. You'll
eventually get into a "fast food row" area, and you'll see Cobb
General Hospital (name has probably changed recently, but it's the only
hospital around). You're close to your turn.
- Turn right onto the East-West Connector. This
is another large intersection.
- Continue on the East-West Connector for approximately
two miles. You'll pass Tramore Park, and you'll also pass a large
intersection with Powder Springs Road.
- Turn left at the first light after the Powder Springs
intersection onto Macedonia Road.
- Continue on Macedonia for approximately 2-¾
miles. You'll pass a series of stop signs, and you'll also pass Wild Horse
Creek Park.
- Turn left at a traffic light onto New Macland Road (also named
Hwy 176). There are drug stores on both corners of this intersection.
- Compton Elementary School is a couple of
hundred yards
down the road on the right. Take the 2nd entrance into Compton. The fields are
past the back parking lot down the hill on the left.
Through West Marietta:
- Take Barrett Parkway (a.k.a. Ridgeway Road)
west toward Dallas Highway (Hwy 120).
- Continue on this road through the intersection
with Dallas Highway. The road becomes the West Cobb Parkway.
- Continue on the West Cobb Parkway for 3-½ miles until you reach a large intersection with Macland
Road. There's very little development at this intersection, but it's huge
with several traffic lights, so you can't miss it.
- Turn right onto Macland Road and continue for
just over 2-½ miles until you reach the intersection with New Macland Road /
Hwy 176. There's a church on the near left and a Kroger shopping center on
the far right.
