Academy tryouts: Tryouts for next year's U10 and U11 Academy programs take place Tuesday, May 26th and Wednesday, May 27th. All current Academy players are invited to return next year without being required to tryout. But if you're in town, we'd like you to attend tryouts to help provide a high level of competition for next year's prospects. Girls who are age 9 or younger as of July 31st, 2009 attend the U10 tryouts. Girls who are age 10 as of July 31st attend the U11 tryouts. Link: tryout details
Register in advance: All returning and prospective NASA Academy players should register in advance for tryouts, even if they are unable to attend. (Returning players: the tryout registration system does not currently provide a way to transfer last year's tryout data, so you'll need to register.) Link: tryout registration
AC Milan Junior Camp (optional): June 29 - July 3, 2009
Summer Academy camp (for all U10 through U12 Academy players):
July 20-24, 2009: Girls Academies @ United Quest Park, 9 AM - 3 PM
If your daughter has a schedule conflict with her home park's Academy camp, she can attend the Academy camp at the other park instead.
We start regular training sessions on Tuesday, August 11th. Days, locations and times are listed below. The U11 girls are on the same schedule as us each Tuesday and Thursday, which expands car-pool options. Link: training session guidelines
NASA Academy U10 Girls @ Metro North Park (NASA South) Day Location Time Tuesday MNP field 4 5:00 - 6:15 PM Thursday MNP field 4 5:00 - 6:15 PM Friday see Friday link see Friday link
Fall game schedule: Our fall game schedule is listed below. Tournaments and Sunday games are listed in italic print.
We play multiple games each weekend, with each girl usually playing one game. There may be some days when we ask for volunteers to play two games, or what we call "DH" (double-header) duty. Tournaments call for two games on Saturday, one or two on Sunday.
Team rosters change from week to week. We assign and post team rosters on our Academy web site each Monday night prior to the weekend games. So if game times are listed as "9:00, 10:30," you'll know on Monday night whether your daughter is in a 9:00 or 10:30 game. As dates and team formations are confirmed, you can click on the date entry to link to rosters and schedules for that date.
Schedule conflicts: Please let us know as early as possible about any game-day schedule conflicts. We can work around most conflicts as long as we know about them a week ahead of time.
Home and away dates: Our fall schedule has a majority of home games. This will likely balance out in the spring with a majority of away games.

Winter break: We take a winter break from late November / early December until early February. We may have an occasional informal (and optional) kick-around during the winter break. If so, we'll send a notice via e-mail and also post it on the main page of the Academy web site. If we do schedule a kick-around, the event is totally optional and will typically just consist of scrimmage games.
Academy Winter Workouts: If your daughter would like to keep up with regular training during the winter break, NASA offers its annual Academy Winter Workouts program during December and January. NASA’s Girls’ Director of Coaching, Eric Ritter, will lead the sessions, which are built around developing individual technical skills, and how to apply them to the game through the use of small sided games. The program is offered at two different indoor locations, one near each NASA park. Link: NASA Winter Workouts (scroll down to Academy Winter Workouts)
Playing at home: Some girls prefer informal off-season play on their own schedule. We've come up with a wide variety of "play at home" activities. Our philosophy is "encourage but don't require." A good way to approach this is to ask your daughter what she has learned and see if this leads to her wanting to do some "show and tell" with the ball. If the girls think it's their own idea to play, they'll have fun and improve. If they think it's a chore they have to do to please their parents, they likely won't get much out of it. (They're under-10s; we want to keep it fun!)
We start regular training sessions on Tuesday, February 16th. Days, locations and times are listed below. The U11 girls are on the same schedule as us each Tuesday and Thursday, which expands car-pool options. Link: training session guidelines

Spring game schedule: We'll play a local pre-season tournament the weekend of February 20-21. Regular weekly games start March 6th. We'll wrap up with the NASA Friendship Cup tournament in May. Tournaments and Sunday games are listed in italic print. Please note that we have some Saturday / Sunday double-header weekends.

Empoli FC soccer camp (optional): NASA is hosting a camp from the Italian club Empoli FC. The camp runs from June 28th through July 2nd at Metro North Park. This is an optional event that's not part of our regular Academy program, but it should be an excellent opportunity for players to experience training from a different set of coaches. July 19-23, 2010: Girls Academies @ United Quest Park, 9 AM - 3 PM
