Men's international soccer in Kennesaw: (November 17)  The KSU / Atlanta Beat Stadium hosts the US U20 Men's team in matches against Colombia and Mexico later this month. Schedule:

Winter break: (November 16)  The fall season is coming to a close. Some girls enjoy the time off from soccer, some want to keep playing. Here are some options for the girls who would like to keep playing.

Fri(ght)day soccer shocker thanks: (October 29)  We thank the Academy girls for their creativity and energy, all the moms who helped with treats and wardrobe, and DJ Chris for providing music. A special thanks to Kia, Brett and Johanna from the Atlanta Beat for coming out, meeting the girls and signing autographs. We'll post some pictures and videos of the event soon.

Greenville tournament champs: (October 7)  We congratulate the NASA Gold Pride team for winning the U11 White division championship in September's CESA Soccer Classic tournament in Greenville.

Cobb fall break - September 20-24: (September 15)  We'll keep our normal practice schedule during the Cobb County Schools fall break. If you plan to head out of town and your daughter won't be available for September 25th or 26th games, please e-mail Copey.

CESA (Greenville) tournament - September 18-19: (September 12)  We travel to Greenville, SC this weekend for the CESA Classic tournament. Link: team assignments and schedule links

Tryouts for the 2010-2011 soccer year: (May 24)  Tryouts for next year's U12 groups start Tuesday, June 1st (link: tryout details). All current Academy players are invited to return next year without being required to tryout. But if you're in town, we'd like your daughter to attend to help provide a high level of competition for next year's prospects.

Empoli FC camp: (May 24)  NASA is hosting a camp from the Italian club Empoli FC. The camp runs from June 28th through July 2nd at Metro North Park.

This is an optional event that's not part of our regular Academy program, but it should be an excellent opportunity for players to experience training from a different set of coaches.

NASA Adidas Friendship Cup - May 22-23: (May 18)  We finish the season with the Adidas Friendship Cup tournament the weekend of May 22-23. Link: tournament rosters and schedule links

Atlanta Beat - inaugural home game Sunday, May 9th: (May 7)  The Atlanta Beat of the Women's Professional Soccer league has their first home game this Sunday, May 9th. The game is at 7 PM at the KSU / Atlanta Beat Stadium in Kennesaw. The game will also be telecast on Fox Soccer Channel (Comcast #124).

The Beat face the Sky Blue from New York. The Sky Blue features several players who won gold medals with the US Women's team in the 2008 Olympics: Natasha Kai, Carli Lloyd, Heather O'Reilly and Christie Rampone. Spring season practice schedule: (February 8)  We start regular training sessions on Tuesday, February 16th. We have the same practice schedule as in the fall; details are listed below. The U10 girls are on the same schedule as us each Tuesday and Thursday, which expands car-pool options.

Pre-season tournaments: (February 2)  We'll enter teams in two pre-season tournaments. Each player is competing in one of these tournaments.

Lassiter 3v3 tournament - January 23: (January 13)  Lassiter High School is hosting its 2nd annual 3v3 Winter Shootout tournament on Saturday, January 23rd from 9 AM - 3 PM. This is a fun opportunity for the girls to organize and direct their own teams and get lots of touches on the ball. Link: more info

Spring season update: (January 13)  The tentative start of spring season training is the week of February 15th. We'll post more details once they become available.

Post-season tournaments: (December 3)  We'll play in two post-season tournaments. Each player is competing in one of these tournaments.

End of season training schedule: (November 16)  We will train until our last tournament on December 5th & 6th. Players who are competing in the TYSA tournament are welcome to continue training with the other players even though their games will be finished on the 22nd.

This week's schedule will be altered a bit. Since we are in the tournament this weekend there will be no training on Friday the 20th. On Wednesday the 18th the coaches are involved in a clinic at Noonday Park from 5:30 to 6:30PM. At 6:30 the players are invited to come out and learn some of the same things that the coaches went through earlier. The NSCAA is providing the clinic, which is a national coaches association that trains our coaches. On Wednesday training will not start until 6:30 PM for the north park. All south park players are invited to attend the Wednesday session at Noonday #2.

There will be no training the week of November 23rd. Everyone has the week off for the Thanksgiving Holidays. We will resume training November 30th for the last tournament.

Academy Winter Workouts: (October 9)  If your daughter would like to keep up with regular training during the winter break, NASA offers its annual Academy Winter Workouts program during December and January. NASA’s Girls’ Director of Coaching, Eric Ritter, will lead the sessions, which are built around developing individual technical skills, and how to apply them to the game through the use of small sided games. NASA golf tournament and silent auction: (October 12)  NASA has two great opportunities for you and your friends to help benefit the NASA soccer organization. NASA is hosting a golf tournament at Indian Hills Country Club on Monday, November 9th. NASA is also hosting a silent auction. Link: more information

AC Milan Junior Camp: (June 1)  NASA has partnered with storied Italian club AC Milan to host the AC Milan Junior Camp this summer. The camp will take place at Metro North Park the week of June 29 - July 3.

Registration is open to all NASA players, Academy age and older. (This is an optional camp, not included in Academy fees.)

Great American Soccer Marrowthon - April 18-19: (March 26)  Mark your calendars: NASA will be hosting a Great American Soccer Marrowthon, in partnership with the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), on Saturday April 18 to Sunday April 19 at NASA's Metro North Park.

U11 Academy girls will play Saturday from 8:30 - 10:30 PM.

This is a great opportunity to teach our players the value of giving back to the community as well as helping a cause that saves lives. In addition, this is a terrific way to raise money for both the NMDP and North Atlanta Soccer Association. Play Soccer-Save Lives! Check the link for more info.

Spring break schedule: (March 29)  We'll shut down for the Cobb schools spring break week, April 6-10. There are no games the weekend leading into or coming out of spring break week. We'll resume with practice on Tuesday, April 14th.

Marrowthon postponed! (March 26)  The Marrowthon event has been postponed due to weather issues. The new dates are Saturday, April 18th through Sunday, April 19th.

Women's Professional Soccer returns! (March 24)  The WPS league kicks off on Sunday, March 29th. Link: WPS TV schedule

NASA Day at KSU - Sunday, October 19th: (October 9)  It's "NASA Day" on Sunday, October 19th at Kennesaw State when the KSU Owls women (featuring several NASA alumni) face USC Upstate. Game time is 2:00 PM, location is the lush KSU field at the corner of Chastain and Frey Roads, just a block west of the I-75 / Chastain Road interchange. If you've got a free afternoon, come on out and watch D1 women's soccer from an "up close and personal" vantage point. NASA players who wear their NASA jerseys are admitted free, while admission for NASA parents and other children is reduced to $3 and $1, respectively.

Prepare to Launch camp returns in June: (April 28)  NASA’s top Academy camp is back this summer! Don’t miss the chance to enroll your Academy child in our Prepare to Launch 2008 Camp. Players will get great training from some of the top college coaches in the southeast. Sessions are designed to challenge the players while building their confidence. Guest nights start Thursday, May 1st: (April 24)  We invite Academy prospects to come practice with us on Thursday nights. Guest nights start Thursday, May 1st and continue through May 22nd. Sessions are at Metro North Park field 4 and run from 5:00 - 6:15 PM. You'll get to practice with the Academy players, meet the Academy coaches, and see what the Academy is all about. Just wear your usual practice gear, bring your soccer ball and water, and join us for some soccer fun!

Academy Ice Breaker tournament, Feb. 9-10: (February 4)  We'll enter two teams in the Academy Ice Breaker tournament over the weekend of February 9th and 10th. Girls games will be played at Metro North Park. Team assignments and schedule links are posted.

NASA Winter Work-outs: (October 21)  It's time to start planning for Winter Work-Outs 2008! This year the staff will be Academy Director Kyle Cornell, Girls Director of Coaching Eric Ritter, Boys Director of Coaching Ray Tomlin and other staff members. The sessions are for girls and boys U9-U14 who would like to work on improving their game in the off season. The work-out sessions will be built around developing skills and a better understanding of the game through the use of small sided games. This gives the players more opportunity to apply soccer skills in real game situations. For more info, check the NASA web site's Winter Work-Outs link.

NASA Annual General Membership meeting: (November 24)  The Annual General Membership meeting will be held Monday, December 17th from 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM at the Mountain View Community Center located at 3400 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta, 30066. All NASA members are encouraged to attend. New board members will be voted on for various positions.

End-of-season mini tournament: (November 13)  We'll have a NASA U11 Academy mini-tournament this Saturday, November 17th at Metro North Park. Team assignments and schedules are posted.

Goalkeeper training on Fridays: (October 31)  Goalkeeper training sessions for Academy keepers will take place each Friday night, alternating between parks. Here's the schedule:

Charleston tournament (October 20-21): (October 2)  We'll field one team in the Charleston (SC) Select Soccer Shootout tournament over the weekend of October 20-21. The roster is posted. We'll add a schedule link once schedules are released.

Atlanta Cup recap: (September 6)  We entered one team in the 2007 Atlanta Cup tournament. Our team didn't advance out of group play, but the girls showed plenty of promise and an entertaining "never quit" attitude. Good effort girls!

NASA Classic: (August 21)  We'll play in the NASA Classic tournament this weekend, August 25-26. Team assignments and schedule links are now posted.

Cobb Academy Open - change of plans: (August 15)  We did not get accepted to play in the Cobb FC tournament this weekend. Coach Ron is teaching a coaching license course at Metro North Park this Saturday, August 18th. The girls are welcome to attend the course to serve as demonstrators for the coaching candidates. It will be the equivalent of an hour and half of training. They may choose to attend either the 1:30-3:00 PM or 3:00-4:30 PM session. Please contact Ron if you'd like to play in one of those sessions.

Volunteers needed for park projects this weekend: (August 6)  In preparation for the upcoming NASA Classic tournament and fall season, there are several facilities “clean up” projects that need volunteer support this coming weekend, August 11-12 (or whenever a group can arrange to spend a couple of hours at either park). Academy Camp starts Monday! (July 13)  We kick-off our fall preparations with the NASA Academy camp at Metro North Park the week of July 16-20. Please check the camp link for tips about fluid intake, footwear and foot care. If the girls stay properly hydrated and keep their feet in good shape, they'll have a blast!

US Women's Nation Team on TV: (July 3)  The Women's World Cup takes place this September in China. The US Women's team will be on TV a few times beforehand as they get ready for the big event. Their next game is against long-time rival Norway. This will be shown live on ESPN2 on Saturday, July 14th at 6 PM. (For complete "soccer on TV" coverage, check the www.soccertv.com web site.)


Party time! (May 9)  We've scheduled our spring party for Thursday, May 24th from 4:30 - 6:30 PM at Mad Mad Whirled (2854 Delk Road, about ¼ mile west of the Powers Ferry intersection).

Canterbury Cup this weekend: (May 22)  We'll wrap up our season with the Canterbury Cup tournament over the weekend of May 26-27. Link: team assignments and schedules

Prepare to Launch camp returns: (March 1)  The Prepare to Launch camp returns for its 2nd year this June. This camp is aimed at select-level players ages 9-15. The camp's staff includes a mix of NASA coaches and nationally recognized college coaches. The camp takes place June 4-7 at Metro North Park. For more info, click the Prepare to Launch link.

NASA committee volunteers needed: (March 1)  Our club is looking for volunteers to serve on organizing committees to plan and develop programs and events that will improve the soccer experience at NASA. For more info, click this link.

Shirt color:  When we get to "t-shirt weather," we'd like the girls to wear specific shirts for the Tuesday and Thursday practices. This will give us a more uniform look and make it easier to create small-sided teams with colored practice vests.

Special event on Thursday:  (April 24) 

NASA is hosting the West Ham Football Academy coaching staff this Thursday, April 26th. (West Ham United is a London-based club whose top team plays in the English Premier League.)

The West Ham staff will conduct a training session with our U12 NASA Academy players. Instead of our usual Thursday practice, we'll watch this event. We'll meet at 5:00 PM at Metro North field 1. The session ends at 6:30 PM. Parents are welcome to watch too.

  • Players:  Wear your gray academy training t-shirt (the one with the number on the back) with your black uniform shorts and black uniform socks.

"NASA night" at Walton High School on Thursday, March 29: (March 27)  We won't have our usual practice at Metro North on Thursday. Instead, we've scheduled another "NASA night" with Walton High School. All players wearing their blue NASA jerseys get free admission to watch the Walton Lady Raiders' varsity girls host Milton at 5:30 PM. (They're welcome to stay and watch the varsity boys game at 8:00 PM also.) Come on out and watch the "big girls" play!

Our own Sallie is NASA volunteer of the month: (March 7)  Congratulations to Sallie Winokur, our U11 manager, for being recognized as NASA volunteer of the month!

Auburn vs. Clemson women on March 10th: (March 1)  The Auburn and Clemson women's soccer teams come to town for a game on Saturday, March 10th. They'll play at 6:00 PM at Parkview High School in Gwinnett (across the street from the GSA complex). This is a great opportunity for our youth players to see some high-level college soccer. Both teams have NASA alumni on their squads:

If you are in town and have a chance to head over to Parkview for this game it will be worth your time.  Don't forget to wear your NASA gear! Admission price: $3 for adults, $2 for kids.

"NASA night" at Walton High School on Tuesday, February 27: (February 27)  NASA has made arrangements with Walton High School for "NASA night" on the 27th. All players wearing their NASA jerseys get free admission to watch the Walton Lady Raiders' varsity girls host Sprayberry at 5:30 PM. (They're welcome to stay and watch the varsity boys game at 7:30 PM also.) If your schedule permits, come on out and watch the "big girls" play!

Academy Ice Breaker - February 10 & 11: (February 6)  Our first official event for the spring season will be the Academy Ice Breaker tournament the weekend of February 10 & 11, 2007. We'll play all our games at Metro North Park. Team assignments and schedules are now posted.

Winter work-outs: (November 21)  If your daughter would like to keep up with regular training during the off-season, Dave Smith (NASA Girls Director) is offering his 4th annual winter work-out program. This year's program will once again be held indoors to avoid weather complications. Click the above link for more information.

It's tournament time! (November 14)  The girls will play in the Sugar & Spice tournament this weekend (November 18-19). Team assignments and schedules are posted.

Soccer on TV this week: (November 21)  There are several women's games on TV during Thanksgiving week, including the US Women's National Team and the NCAA Women's Soccer Final 4.

Practice location change: (October 30)  We're moving practice fields to a lighted field. Starting Thursday, we'll practice at Metro North field 3B (adjacent to the turf field). Same time as usual, just a new field with portable lights.

Friday daytime kick-about: (October 8)  Cobb County students are off this Friday, October 13th. NASA has invited Academy and select girls and boys to come out to Metro North Park or United Quest Park for some daytime soccer. The kids will do a brief skills warm up and then play games. Remember to call the field hotline Friday morning if we get any rain (770-512-2985). Cost: free! Schedule:

RBC (Greenville) tournament: (September 16)  We'll play in the RBC Classic tournament in Greenville, SC the weekend of September 23-24.
