U12 Academy members (2005-06):

Player invitations: (06/03/05)  The coaches were impressed with the girls' efforts at Academy tryouts! We thank everyone who attended for their interest in the Silverbacks Academy program. We have invited the following girls to join the U12 Academy for the 2005-06 soccer year:

Congratulations!  If your daughter was invited to join, please respond via e-mail to Sharon Loughran by Sunday evening, June 5th to let her know if you accept the invitation. Please include your daughter's name, parent names and phone number(s) in the message. (Note: Sharon will be away until Monday, June 6th, and may be unable to return messages until then.)

There is no obligation to join. If the level of commitment isn't right for your daughter or family, the recreational program at United Quest Park is still available as an option.

Not invited?  If your daughter tried out but wasn't invited, we encourage her to keep playing. She should set a goal of becoming a dynamic player who likes to have the ball at her feet (someone who has the confidence to take on defenders, find open teammates with passes and score goals), and also works hard on defense to regain possession when the other team has the ball.

If she loves the game and sticks with it, she'll always have a chance to achieve her goals. Players develop at different rates, and a player who isn't selected this time around could blossom and become a dynamo by this time next year. We've had several instances where players tried out one year and weren't selected, but kept playing and made it into the Academy the next time around. These players showed that determination and effort can help you reach your goals.

What happens next?

• We'll have a registration meeting on Monday, June 6th at 6:30 PM at the United Quest Park clubhouse (the blue house on the hill near Canterbury field 6). If you have a vacation conflict, we'll have a 2nd-chance meeting on Monday, June 13th at 6:30. We'll collect registration forms and related items for each player, plus initial fee payments:

• Note:  Some forms require the Adobe Acrobat reader program (a free download).

• We'll also handle uniform fitting, review the Academy schedule, and answer general questions. We expect the meeting to take 45-60 minutes. Who should attend? Either or both parents, plus the player (for the uniform fitting).
